RESEARCH INTERNSHIP

Computer Scientist / Bioinformatician (80-100%) - 5 months - Start date: November 2026

The Institute of Tissue Medicine and Pathology (ITMP), University of Bern, is seeking a Computer Scientist / Bioinformatician for a 5-month research internship in computational biology. The position is part of the research group of Prof. Erik Vassella and PD Theoni Maragkou and focuses on RNA and DNA biology in brain tumors.

The internship will be carried out in collaboration with the SATURNA research program, under the direct supervision of the AI for RNA Laboratory at the Department for BioMedical Research (DBMR), University of Bern, and in affiliation with the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB). The intern will work with large-scale transcriptomic, epigenomic, and genomic datasets, contributing to research at the intersection of computational biology, cancer research, and translational medicine.

PROFESSORSHIP (NON-TENURE TRACK)

Assistant Professorship in Clinical Cancer Informatics (100%) - 4 years - Start date: 2027

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern and Inselspital, Bern University Hospital invite applications for an Assistant Professorship in Clinical Cancer Informatics, funded by the Werner and Hedy Berger-Janser Foundation. This endowed professorship is embedded within the University Comprehensive Cancer Center Inselspital (UCI) and jointly affiliated with the Department of Medical Oncology and the Department of Radiation Oncology. The position aims to strengthen data-driven, patient-centered cancer research and to advance the integration of clinical data, artificial intelligence, and precision oncology. It is designed to serve as a key interface between clinical practice and data science, enabling the transformation of real-world data into clinically meaningful insights.

COST Action CA25152 – LLM4Drugs: Join the Working Groups - Ongoing

The COST Action CA25152 is inviting researchers and experts interested in contributing to its Working Groups. The Action brings together an interdisciplinary network working to advance reliable, transparent, and efficient evidence synthesis for drug development using large language models. Researchers from relevant fields are welcome to express their interest in joining one or more of the Action’s Working Groups, covering use case identification and task formulation, LLM evaluation and benchmarking, data curation, ethics and regulatory engagement, and dissemination, training, and stakeholder integration.

Interested researchers can apply through the COST platform. An e-COST profile is required to submit an application.
